Our Role and Impact
The Auditor General independently audits the financial accounts of the Province and select Crown agencies, ensuring responsible use of public funds. Key responsibilities include:
Auditing Financial Statements:
Examining the accounts of the Province and certain Crown agencies to provide an unbiased opinion on financial statements.
Performance Auditing:
Assessing the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of government programs, services, and activities.
Reporting to the Legislative Assembly:
Providing annual reports to the Legislative Assembly to foster government accountability.
The AGNB audits span a range of activities, from education and economic development to healthcare, environment, and transportation, touching nearly every sector that impacts society.
