This executive position plays a critical role supporting the Auditor General in satisfying the Auditor General Act, particularly the provision of financial statement, and performance audits of the New Brunswick public service.WHO WE ARE:

As Deputy Auditor General, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to professional audit teams, ensuring alignment with legislation, professional standards, and office protocols. Through the embodiment of the Office's values of accountability, credibility, and objectivity, the Deputy Auditor General has a significant impact on the performance and reputation of the Office. In addition, they will represent the Office in various engagements, including provincial legislative committees and national partnerships. You are a strategic and credible leader with strong professional judgment, sound decision-making abilities, and a commitment to accountability and continuous improvement. You bring significant leadership experience, deep professional expertise, and a passion for excellence.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- significant experience in areas relevant to the work of the Office of the Auditor General, including audit, assurance, financial oversight, performance audit, risk, controllership, or related fields
- significant senior leadership experience, including leading teams, resolving complex HR matters, managing challenging files, and setting organizational priorities
- strong understanding of Canadian public sector accounting and auditing standards, public sector governance, risk management, project management, operational resource management and accountability frameworks
- excellent communication, relationship building and change management skills
- a demonstrated commitment to integrity, objectivity, and excellence
- written and spoken competence in English and French
Candidates are required to demonstrate essential qualifications in their application.ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- experience working in or with the public sector
- experience presenting findings and advice to senior leaders or governance bodies
- experience leading change and continuous improvement initiatives
Salary Range:Pay band 12- $150,098 to $165,178 per annumWORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Auditor General independently audits the financial accounts of the Province and select Crown agencies, ensuring responsible use of public funds. Key responsibilities include:
Auditing Financial Statements:
Examining the accounts of the Province and certain Crown agencies to provide an unbiased opinion on financial statements.
Performance Auditing:
Assessing the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of government programs, services, and activities.
Reporting to the Legislative Assembly:
Providing annual reports to the Legislative Assembly to foster government accountability.
