Basic Emergency Management (BEM)
This self-study pre-requisite course is structured to provide participants with a broad base from which to carry out planning and operations for emergencies. Planning-process theory is introduced and operating procedures are applied to a variety of emergency scenarios. The management, command, control and co-ordination functions necessary to meet emergencies are examined using case studies. This is an introductory level course and is required, along with the ICS 100 course, for advanced courses such as the Emergency Operation Centre course and Emergency Public Information course.
Incident Command System 100 (ICS 100)
Incident Command System 100 (ICS 100) is an introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS) and is intended for personnel assigned to an incident or event who have a minimum requirement (first responders, stakeholders, cooperating or assisting agencies) for understanding ICS; students will be required to complete a final exam.
The ICS 100 course is offered by ICS service providers or as an online self-study. It reviews the ICS organization, basic terminology, and common responsibilities. It will provide basic information about the Incident Command System to enable you to work in a support role at an incident or event, or to support an incident from an off-site location. This is a basic level course and is required, along with the Basic Emergency Management (BEM) course, for Advanced Level Training courses, such as the Emergency Operations Centre course (EOC).
For access to the ICS 100, please see instructions below:
- Send an email to NB EMO at firstname.lastname@example.org requesting access to the online course, providing details how you meet the requirements to be a first responder, stakeholder, cooperating or assisting agency. Applicants must reside in New Brunswick.
- Once the ICS Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) is satisfied that the requirements are met, an email with a link and access code will be provided.
You will have the ability to print your certificate at the end of the course.
