FREDERICTON (GNB) -- The following statement was issued today by Auditor General Kim Adair-MacPherson, who will start a position as auditor general of Nova Scotia in May 2021:

After 36 years of service with the Province of New Brunswick I have decided to take on an exciting new opportunity as auditor general of Nova Scotia. The last 10 years as auditor general of New Brunswick have been especially rewarding and I want to express my sincere appreciation for the opportunity to serve my home province and the legislative assembly in this important capacity.

In fulfilling the mandate of the auditor general, working with the professional audit team here, we have always strived to deliver audits of significance and impact to New Brunswickers. I have been honoured to serve as the auditor general.

During my mandate, in addition to delivering independent financial and performance audits, my personal focus has been to build and strengthen our audit team; modernize the Auditor General Act; obtain additional budget to increase performance audit resources; and encourage a more effective Public Accounts Committee.

I leave the office with a huge feeling of accomplishment and gratitude for the support of legislators, both past and present, the professional audit team, provincial officials throughout the provincial government and the New Brunswick public.

Most importantly, I want to thank my family and friends for their continuous support and encouragement as I take on this new opportunity. I hope to visit often and return some day to my home province of New Brunswick.
